Dishonesty with your employer.

When I filed my Claim Protest with Illinois, against my discharged employee, I felt confident in my decision. Not that I liked having to complete the protest, but that it wasn't right that someone could be deceitful under your employ and then turn around and receive more money, effectively from you through benefits, that will increase your contribution rates.

Tuesday, I received a phone call from the state to verbally go over my decision to terminate the employee. I went over the situation, detail for detail and she said thank you. The rep left me with no indication as to the decision that would amount from this.

Today, my smiling mail man just brought in an envelope from the Department of Employment Security. Their form states " employee was discharged for misconduct, dishonesty with the employer" and that "the employer was completely within their rights to terminate the employee".

Therefore, the claimant is ineligible for benefits for each week ..

Okay, this is the outcome I wanted, but it makes me sad. Proving again, I am not a good leader. Or do all business owners and managers feel like this? Shouldn't I be happy?
