Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm almost late with this wish for all of you. I'm sitting in my Lazy Boy right now, relaxing after a long and wonderful day.
We woke up early on this day off. Wearing our warmest of workout clothes, we climbed into the car for our long ride to meet my brother, nephew and long time family friend. My sister-in-law did not come. :-(
We ran our annual Turkey Trot today. And I was so excited. I knew before we began that I was going to give it my all and my best. It was so worth the $25 a person donation.
I am happy to report I did not come in last. Yea!!! Not that I came in last for the whole run in prior years, just last for our group.
I found it hard to run this. It was much different then my treadmill. I had no idea how far I had come or how far I had to go. I had to keep telling myself to push on, without any goal in site. The landscape was much more difficult then a run on the treadmill, with hills and curves and rough Prairie Path trails.
So, when I crossed the line in 39 minutes........did you read that? 39 minutes! I was so excited. That is 18 minutes better then last time.
I'm so thankful for the new me. I'm so thankful for my brother who calls every year to schedule this run as a family tradition. I'm so thankful for my hubby, who works his tail off everyday and yet is willing to take this run, because I ask. I'm also so thankful for my 3 children that immediately agree to this new tradition of giving back on our day of feast.
We arrived back home in time to shower, dress and head out for our family dinner. It was such a wonderful visit and the food was yummy! All in all, a perfect day of giving and feasting....does it get any better then this?
