How Much is Your Health Worth?
Can you put a price on feeling good? How about looking good? How about emotional bliss?
I think you can. I will even step further outside of the box and say - when it comes to your health spare no expense.
I can not tell you how many people around me are saying things that are not positive about my spending our funds on the personal trainer. The funny thing, instead of being insulted or upset, I am almost smirking inside. I feel like I know this huge secret and I am trying to share it with everyone and few get it. Makes me want to get up on a table and scream "this isn't extra, it is necessary. It is wonderful. It is making me feel so darn good."
Personally I wish every single person who is out of shape, overweight, just tired or not feeling their best could do this.
I'm me, but better. I don't look in the mirror, quite the same. I stand taller. I feel awesome.
I've only lost 17 lbs to date. So, there isn't this huge scale drop to watch. Sometimes, it is discouraging. Though I've been keeping another blog, that is tracking my health and my goals and my inner most issues with this battle and it is amazing and encouraging for me to see how far I have come.
My fast walking treadmill hour in July, where I thought I was doing so well - and I was for my health and size, I was only doing 18.23 minute miles. That is almost embarrassing, but I need you to see this, to make you understand how the money is nothing compared to the gifts I receive.
The turkey trot left me running 12.58 minute miles. Wow, that is a decrease of over 5 minutes a mile in just 3 months.
Yesterday, I pumped it up to 12.08 minute miles. And today, leaving turkey trot mode, and getting back into my training and endurance mode, I ran 11.54 minute miles.
Today, I feel more confident that I will reach my goal of 9 minute miles. I will be a size 8 again. I will lengthen my life. I will improve the quality of my life. I will be a spiritually happier person. I will be a better wife, mother and friend. And this my friends, comes from my better health. From a doctor willing to push me out of my norm and introduce me to the world of training. A world that I believed was only for the super rich, Fergie types, not me an Illinois wife and mother.
This is still the best money I have ever in my life, spent on myself. Some day, I may even be brave enough to post pictures of me then and in the future.
If your teetering - stop the ride and do it. You won't be disappointed. I promise you.
