- Paid DD1's 2nd Tri-mester college bill. ($9100 - on the books accounting for balance)
- Paid for DD1's new tire and new muffler. (est-$100)
- Bought a 30gb Zune for DS2 for Christmas ($102)
- Ordered 3 more books for Christmas gifts ($30)
- Ordered 2 Chamois shirts from Eddie Bauer ($60) Christmas sale $10 off ea, free ship
- Ordered another college sweatshirt for present ($45)
- Placed a 6 month ad for rental property
Then there is frosting to all of this. We have hung our Christmas lights - showing ComEd a little electric love. We have received an acceptance letter for DS1 to go to college (future bills). We made a ton of phone calls over the weekend to distant family.
As you can see, spending is OUT OF CONTROL. And in the end, I couldn't be happier. Yes, a couple of the expenses are frustrating, like the daughter without any common sense or care about puncturing brand new tires. Yet, I think we are where we are supposed to be, right now.
Don't take this to mean, I think we belong in debt. What I mean is, we are spending where the money should be spent. We are sending our kids to college. We are ensuring they have safe transportation. I can't help but thing, debt freedom is something that we will not enjoy until all children are well on their way as adults. And just maybe, we need to take comfort in this and enjoy the ride - instead of stressing each step. After all, we signed on to be parents.
We'll worry tomorrow.
