I haven't been as effected by the economic issues as others lately. I don't have any A.R.M's that would be part of the sub-prime mess. Our businesses are experiencing a steady, if not growing, amount of sales. We do not need to access any investments to live on - meaning we aren't retired. Our bills are paid and confidence comes from this. As well as emotional stability.

Although, all that comfort is about to change.

You see, in my eyes, there are good deal of people in this country NOT closely affected by the sub-prime mess. Those same people are in for the long haul and not experiencing "real" losses in the stock market right now. It is a tide and instead of fighting it, we just need to ride the wave, by NOT SELLING. Whether that be stocks or our home.
Easy enough. I thought.
With the Fed's lowering interest rates again, by a HUGE amount of .75%, and the talk of more cuts in the near future, we are about to throw all people into this nightmare ride. The Fed's evidently weren't happy with only part of America feeling the pain, they want everyone to feel the pain and that, to me, sounds like we are headed to a Depression.
The once, willing to ride out the storm people are now, watching their monthly earnings drop on investments. Not just small declines, which can be tolerated, but ones that change the income significantly in a household. This will provide stress.
Stress creates emotional depression.
I have yet to know anyone who functions well under large quantities of stress or depression. So, who will be the functioning adults keeping this country running? We were already riding on 1/2 or so productive people. How many folks and survive these types of cuts that aren't in the sub-prime mess? How many were relying on investment income to live? How many will make it through unscathed?
Yesterday, was a show of how bad off we really are. We are affecting the markets everywhere, outside of our home land. This is like a cancer in the body of our world.
