Obama's Church Website Disappeared
I received an email yesterday, that I wanted to share. And yet, do to the "racial card" I was not clear on how I would share it. After speaking with friends of mine that are not albino's like myself, last night - I decided this morning to "just say it."
Of course, when I linked back into the email to go and re-read the about page on the church's website - the site was gone. I'm assuming this was a mass mailer and the huge click in's - shut it down. So, maybe most of you have seen this.
Then again, was it a hoax?
Last year, I received an email of the Democratic runners that were standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. All were looking at the flag and participating in the pledge, with a hand over their heart. Pledging their Allegiance to our Flag and Our Country. As any potential Commander and Chief should do. All except OBAMA.
I was not at this event - and as a general rule, I discounted this event, because pictures can say anything. One does not a statement make.
I was not happy with yesterdays email. It included a link that went to the Trinity Church of Christ that Mr. Barack Obama and family attend. So, at first I didn't truly care. I mean your religion or lack of religion doesn't dictate if you can or can't run this country. In fact, until this email, I had no idea why they disclose if some one is a Baptist or a Mormon. Just tell me if they can do the job.
The items on the about page at www.tucc.org/about.htm - that no longer works, that bothered me:
- this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa - what does that mean "non-negotiable" - flashback in brain of the Pledge picture - The President, best have a NON-NEGOTIABLE COMMITMENT TO AMERICA.
- only black - the site stipulated that membership was to be BLACK to attend. So, even if I wanted to worship with them, I couldn't. What if my girlfriend went there and we were out and wanted to worship together that night - as happens - I couldn't go with her. This is RACIST. Maybe this is why the site is gone. I was truly hurt by this. And I don't even go here or no anyone. Maybe my white prayers are not good enough. Of course, my Mexican friend would be outside on the steps with me, while we waited for our black friends.
The email stated, that Barack Obama referred to his church on Oprah. This is how it became public knowledge. I am not laying this info in stone, because I wanted to go back into the site and verify the information - but it is gone.

The site is back. I hope the main stream media picks up on this, this is good info.
The site is back up, yes, but I notice that the link to "Become a Member" is NOT working. I was interested to see the membership "requirements"...it seems fishy that that particular link is not working. Hmmm.
Not sure about the membership part but my sister is a member and I will be happy to ask her.
I don't agree with your other statement. I don't get why you can't have a non-negotiable commitment to Africa and still not be committed to other issues/countries as well. Just because you are committed to one thing doesn't mean you can't be committed to another.
Also, you're right about the race card as our world is still largely divided. It's a sensitive issue all around.
I think that media and e-mails can be taken out of context. I hope you don't make judgments when you don't have all the information and can't really verify the source.
Chitown - thanks for posting. I would love to hear what your sister says.
The Non-negotiable problem I have is completely in the words. Should something - anything come down - does this mean that the congregation must always be on the side of the African Nation? I guess I am confused by your comment.
Commitments are made in various forms and types - it is the NON-Negotiable wording I do not like. Meaning "nothing stands in the way" sort of thing. The President of our country can not be more commited to another country than to ours.
Do you see my problem or am I talking in circles here??
Kind of feel like you are talking in circles. In the end, you may just not like the language but the principal is good.
To be honest, I feel like the President should be 100% committed not just to the US but also to Africa especially considering the multitude of issues they have there including AIDS, malaria, genocide, etc. All of this has worldwide implications that will not only affect Africa but the US as well. Not just in small ways but in big ways.
For the non-negotiable language, it kind of is non-negotiable because we as a country (me too as an African American)cannot sit by and watch what is happending and not repond in a proactive manner. On my own end, I know I need to get better to make my own special contribution to making things better.
I do thank you for keeping an open mind. It's issues like these that come up where every side can learn a little more about what others believe and think.
Chitown - See, I don't look at the terrible things in happening on the continent of Africa as a "African" problem. I look at it like hunger or disease or any other issue - it is a HUMAN THING. We all need to help everyone. PERIOD. We are all family, regardless what a few try to press upon us.
My only concern, in this post is the presidential race. Will Obama be the one? Will he place his hand on the bible and be sworn in? Will he place his hand over his heart and commit himself to the well-being of our country and mean it, unlike BUSH?
The better off, we are as a country and people the more we can do to spread our good fortune, knowledge and love. Without his commitment to the people here, first and foremost - I don't see this..... I want to. I need to feel 80% confident in my vote. I have never felt 100%.
"Non-negotiable" leaves no room for ambiguity. More specifically, however, it leaves no room for compromise.
If a conflict between the interests of the United States and a nation of Africa arises, which more than likely happens daily on some level, Mr. Obama would be incapable of yielding to the interests of the United States if he is a member of a "congregation with a 'non-negoitable' COMMITMENT TO AFRICA."
"Non-negotiable" means "non-negotiable".
